Tracking Checkpoints
What is the Tracking Checkpoints section about?
In this section, CRM users can add the steps or checkpoints that will be displayed on the Internal Tracking Number for customers. For instance:
Merchandise located and reserved
Merchandise prepped and packed for shipping
Shipping label created.
When a new tracking is added to the Tracking System and only the ITN is available, the system will add these available tracking checkpoints, so that, when the customer search for the tracking status using the ITN, the system will return at least these default tracking checkpoints.
If we have external status information available (Aftership), the system will return the default tracking checkpoints added before and the current Aftership status available.
Please note that the Tracking Checkpoints section has to be set by each CRM instance.
Where the Tracking Checkpoints section is located?
To find this section, follow the below steps.
Log into CRM and go to the left-side menu
Scroll down and click on the System Settings
Then click on Tracking Checkpoints.
The Tracking Feature
Every time we send a new fulfilment to a warehouse, the system automatically creates an Internal Tracking Number, and makes it available in CRM as well as adding it to the Tracking System.
Additionally, when the warehouse returns the tracking number of a package, the system will add it to the CRM and to the Tracking System.
In this way, the user can look for the tracking status using both, Internal Tracking Number (ITN) and the Tracking Number (TN).
Please note that the information displayed on the ITN, as well as the ones on the TN, will be both available when using AfterShip at: Global Package Tracking - AfterShip
The Internal Tracking Number
The Internal Tracking Number (ITN) refers to a tracking number that is created as soon as the order goes into the Shipping status and can help customers to keep track of their orders by clicking on it.
The Internal Tracking Number provides information even before the order is shipped, and the Tracking Number is created by the Warehouse.
Consequently, with the ITN, customers can see when the additional below information:
Once the warehouse fulfilled the order and the Tracking Number is created, the customer can still see his/her order shipment information even in the ITN. Otherwise, the customer can click on the normal Tracking Number and check the status of the shipment (see the below example)
Also, once the order has been shipped, the user can even access the AfterShip link directly from the ITN by clicking on the Go to AfterShip button (see the below example):
The ITN is located on the Shipping History, follow the below steps to find it:
On the order page, scroll down to the Shipping History section
Click on the Detail button
and on the Shipment Details tab there is the ITN and, if already available, the TN, which are both clickable links, so users can verify the status of the order from a small tab (see the below example)
